This egret landed on this rail about 20 feet in front of me just long enough to turn around and fly away again. This was the only picture I could shoot before he was gone again.
The great egret is partially migratory, with northern hemisphere birds moving south from areas with colder winters. It breeds in colonies in trees close to large lakes with reed beds or other extensive wetlands. It builds a bulky stick nest.
I've loved taking photos all my life, starting way back with a Polaroid instant camera, moving up to a simple point and shoot and now with a DSLR. I love learning new techniques, and do as much research as possible. I live in Greenwood, IN but enjoy traveling! Enjoy the photos! I enjoyed taking them!
